EHS Technician

Primary Responsibilities 

*Support hazardous waste stream management from the point of generator to their shipment to a treatment facility, which requires routine hazardous waste inspections and assisting with waste pickup and documentation 

*Perform EHS audits of assigned areas to ensure compliance expectations are being met 

*Monitor and maintain inventories of DG packaging, laboratory consumables, and waste processing supplies 

*Monitor the stock of personal protective equipment in laboratory and manufacturing areas and work with departments to ensure supply is adequate. 

*Process incoming chemical shipments through acceptance, storage, and inventory documentation 

*Maintain chemical inventories within Inpria-required databases 

*Print labeling supplies and ensure adequate supplies are available 

*Assist in preparing regulatory-required EHS reports 

*Support the Inpria Safety Program by participating in job hazard evaluations, safety inspections and incident investigations 

*Support Inpria’s Safety Committee 

*Review and co-author EHS standard operating procedures 

*Participate in and support EHS initiatives 

*Complete assigned training and certification courses, including for dangerous goods shipping and waste handling 

*Communicate with internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis to understand EHS risks and mitigations 

*Input safety data sheet (SDS) into software database 

*Assist with other EHS-related duties as assigned 

Key Qualifications 

*Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a scientific or technical field, Associate’s degree with 2 years of relevant work experience, OR 4 years of relevant work experience 

*Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in a chemical laboratory or manufacturing environment or who are experienced with EHS hazardous waste or chemical handling requirements. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with dangerous goods shipping experience and/or certifications 

*Experienced working with hazardous chemicals 

*Well-organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, flexible, and eager to learn; able to work in a fast-paced team environment 

*Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills 

Physical Requirements 

* Ability to lift 50lbs 

* Ability to lift 30lbs overhead 

* Ability to stand for extended periods 

* Ability to use a hand truck to shift packages and drums 

• Ability to ascend and descend ladders
