Chemical Technician I
Inpria, a leader in advanced metal oxide photoresist technology for the semiconductor industry, seeks a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Chemical Technician I to support laboratory operations in the development and manufacture of advanced photoresist materials and organometallic precursors. This hands-on role is critical to maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient lab environment while assisting with key processes across multiple departments.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Glassware Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean, inspect, and maintain lab glassware to ensure it meets cleanliness standards required for high-purity chemical processes.
- QC Sampling and Shipping Coordination: Assist in collecting, preparing and shipping quality control samples for analytical testing, ensuring proper documentation and labeling.
- Precursor Transfers: Safely transfer precursor materials between departments in compliance with internal protocols and safety guidelines.
- Canister Decanting: Perform careful decanting of chemical canisters, adhering to strict handling procedures to avoid contamination and exposure.
- Solvent Dispensing and Drum Handling: Dispense solvents and move solvent drums within the lab in accordance with safety regulations and ergonomics best practices.
- Glovebox Maintenance: Maintain and clean inert-atmosphere gloveboxes, including routine checks, basic troubleshooting, and supply restocking.
- Reaction Setup/Assistance: Support chemists with reaction setups, including preparing equipment, staging materials, and cleaning up post-reaction.
- SOP Drafting Assistance: Collaborate with technical staff to update or help draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to lab operations and safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience in a laboratory setting.
- Minimum 1+ year experience in a chemical laboratory or production environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and chemical handling.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions with precision.
- Familiarity with working in an inert atmosphere (e.g., gloveboxes) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to lab cleanliness and safety.
- Self-driven and proactive in achieving goals.
- Experience with high-purity chemical handling is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft products (Excel, Sharepoint, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Strong teamwork, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Continuous quality and process improvement minded.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to use a keyboard and mouse for computer data entry and/or analysis, and presenting data.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Ability to move full 55-gallon drums with appropriate equipment.
- Ability to wear standard PPE in areas that require it.
- Ability to use a glovebox with thick rubber gloves to accurately pour, pipet, mix, and handle chemicals in small vials or bottles.
- Ability to wear a respirator (upon training/certification) for processes that may require it.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery, including, but not limited to forklifts and drum lifters.
- 40 hours/week or more, may vary depending on the needs of the department; nominal shift is Monday - Friday, 8am-5:00pm.
- 100% of work hours are expected to be onsite.
- Occasional weekend and overtime may be required due to production operations support needs.
- May be required to work company-observed holidays to support operations.
