Production Planner
The Production Planner coordinates and manages the production schedule, ensuring timely production by balancing resources such as labor, machinery, and materials to meet customer demand while optimizing efficiency and minimizing delays. They monitor the production process to address any unexpected issues and work closely with production, engineering, procurement, logistics, sales, and finance to keep all key stakeholders informed. They ensure that the organization's material requirements are effectively met in the short, medium, and long term.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain MRP process to improve organizational planning.
- Maintain detailed production schedule based on sales forecasts, customer orders, and inventory levels.
- Adjust schedules to accommodate changes in demand, material availability, and production capacity.
- Collaborate with production & engineering teams to ensure schedules are feasible and align with overall manufacturing goals.
- Allocate & communicate specific raw materials based on specific customer requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials to ensure materials are available for production.
- Develop supplier forecasts to secure long-term supply of raw materials.
- Work with procurement & logistics to ensure timely delivery of materials and components needed for production.
- Identify and mitigate potential inventory shortages or excesses.
- Recommend adjustments to production schedules to optimize the use of resources and equipment.
- Liaise with procurement, logistics, and quality assurance teams to support production activities.
- Communicate production schedules, changes, and priorities to relevant departments.
- Work closely with the sales team to align production output with customer demand and delivery timelines.
- Track production performance against the schedule and report on key metrics such as lead times, on-time delivery, and production efficiency.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions to enhance production planning processes.
- Develop contingency plans to minimize the impact of disruptions on production schedules.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production planning processes and overall manufacturing efficiency.
- Suggest and implement process improvements that reduce waste, increase productivity, and improve product quality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in planning, scheduling, or a similar role.
- Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is preferred.
- CPIM, CSCP, CTSC certification is preferred.
- Strong understanding of relevant ERP, MRP, and inventory management systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to develop core business processes.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 10 pounds from floor to table height.
- Ability to sit and/or stand in one place for extended periods.
- Perform fine motor skills for keyboarding, mousing, and data entry.
- Be able to stand and walk short distances throughout the day.
